It’s an established and premier name in the silverware manufacturing industry- the gorham manufacturing companyor Gorham Silver. Founded in 1831 by Jabez Gorham, Gorham Silver had been known for creating silverware speaking of quality craftsmanship, elegance and authenticity. One of Gorham’s famous artisans, William C. Codman, created Chantilly which is among the most classically beautiful silver designs of all time. Codman created and designed Chantilly in 1895 and the design remains to be prominent to date.
One of the splendid Gorham Silver creations was a sparkling silver vase 62 inches in length and 50 inches in height. What was so special about this piece was that First Lady Grant had it made for the US’ jubilee year. White House administrations had Gorham Silver as personal preferences, from the time of President Ulysses Grant to President George Bush. The specially- made Gorham Silver vase was kept on display at the Philadelphia Centennial Exhibit, and afterwards in Paris and Chicago.
